Interesting facts about hydrogen: Hydrospider organises “MINT Days” in Niedergösgen

Under the motto “Interesting facts about hydrogen”, Hydrospider and its partners welcomed pupils from Niedergösgen primary school on 7 June 2024 to kick off the two “MINT Days”. The scientific and technical educational event for Year 6 primary school pupils conveyed the most important facts about hydrogen in a clear and easy-to-understand way. During their visit to Hydrospider's hydrogen production plant in Niedergösgen, the children were given a practical insight into the production and logistics of environmentally friendly hydrogen, which is produced on site using renewable hydropower from the Alpiq run-of-river power plant on the river Aare.

A small workshop with gas experiments under the expert guidance of Patrick Rüegg from Linde Switzerland rounded off the morning's programme and amazed some of the children. Another highlight was a ride in a Toyota Mirai, a car powered by hydrogen.

Nicolas Crettenand, CEO of Hydrospider: “We were delighted that the Niedergösgen primary school visited us. With our first “MINT Days”, we at Hydrospider wanted to familiarise the pupils with the topic of energy using the example of the production and possible uses of green hydrogen, to demonstrate its importance as an environmentally friendly energy source and its contribution to climate protection.”

The programme continued on 8 June. On the second day, Hydrospider welcomed employees and their families to Niedergösgen - with an additional attraction: a ride in a hydrogen lorry!

The energy transition and decarbonisation will require a large number of skilled workers. It is important to set the right course today and inspire the next generation for careers in this field.
